I agree on the mood comment. I'm thinking I need to go somewhere warm for two weeks next February. Doesn't have to be a vacation. I can still work. I just don't think I can face another winter. Blah...
I remember your seasonal depression thing from our college days. I feel the same way about summer - just ugh. Anyway, I'm glad Spring is finally there for you. I hope it leaves your feeling happy and renewed.
Your yard looks beautiful. Ours is going crazy right now, too. So much color, even here in the desert!
(Jun. 10) Zachary: (to his unmarried aunt, discussing her marriage prospects) There's a time when you go out of season.
(Jun. 10) Me: Who wants to get a happy meal? Zachary: I want to get a pessimistic meal.
(Apr. 10) Anna-(after watching an episode of Bugs Bunny, she pointed to the Warner Brothers symbol and said,) "I know what the WB is for. Wow, Bugs!"
(Mar. 10) Anna: (tearfully) When are we going to have a Halloween party? Me: Um...how about when it's Halloween?
(Dec. 09) Isaac: we're reading scriptures about how the murderer of the chief judge was caught and began to "quake exceedingly," which Isaac read as "quack exceedingly."
(Oct. 09) Anna: I am "sissing" with my scissors.
(Sep. 09) Anna: There is a warm part in Grendel's body that is stacked up...and it's smelly.
(Aug. 09) Noah (running out to the garage when I got home): I just wanted you to think I was just as excited as when Dad gets home.
(Jul. 09) Zachary- At Youth Conference, he won the hot dog eating contest...the prize? A giant, stuffed, hotdog hat. He wore it to the dance that night. His comment? "I think one or two girls might be interested in dancing with a guy in a hotdog hat." Touche!
(May 09) Zachary: (during a prayer in Primary) "Thank you for the temple that grands the land and helps us to see what heaven will be like."
(May 09) Anna: (during her family prayer) "Thank you for my brothers and sisters...um...oops...sorry."
(May 09) Anna: "I'm not having a very happy Mothers' Day!"
(Apr. 09) I asked Anna what I would do next year when she goes to Kindergarten. Isaac's solution: "um, get pregnant?"
(May 09) Anna:(during church) "You know why I don't like baby blessings?" Me: "sshh...why?" Anna: "Because the babies are loud and they're posed to be quiet."
(Feb. 09) Isaac: "I have a talent to see in the dark because I was born at night."
(Jan. 09) Anna, our budding attorney said, "You know what? If you are bad on Christmas Santa still brings you presents because it's too late." (Alas, she discovered the loophole!)
(Dec. 08) Zachary told me to "chillax" today.
(Dec. 08) Isaac has been finishing all his sentences this week by saying, "peace, out."
(Dec. 08) Anna calls diarrhea "the really horrible potty."
(Nov. 08) Not really a quote, but Zachary won his school Reflections contest for Literature with his essay titled, "Why I Loathe the Kansas Jayhawks."
(Nov. 08) Anna- (Referring to the story of Abinadi) "Who got killed from fire? You remember...it was a prophet or somefing."
(Nov. 08) Isaac invited Aunt Kim to Thanksgiving dinner and said, "It's pretty much food heaven."
(Oct. 08) After spending all of Primary practicing for the program, Anna cried to her teacher, "I don't have any more words!"
(Oct. 1 08)Anna came running into the house after preschool shouting, "Today is the first day of Halloween!"
(Sep 08) Anna- "You know what? When you say a bad word, the ponies yell at you."
( Sep. 08) With all my canning nonsense going on, Zachary has taken the stance that fruits are far superior to vegetables. Last night we read in the scriptures about the "fruits" of our efforts when we plant a seed of faith. Zachary said, "See, the scriptures always talk about fruits...not vegetables!"
(Aug. 08) Anna told me "Jesus wants us to say nice words, but not the bad guy, Hatan."
(Jul. 08) Whenever someone comes over Anna insists on playing a piano composition of her own creation she has titled: "Pumpy Drums"
(Jul. 08) Cory's uncle died last week, and the day of the funeral, the following conversation was heard between Isaac and my niece Emily: How does he get out of his skin? Isaac: Maybe he uses scissors?
(Jun. 08) While wearing my visor, Anna asked me, "Why are you wearing a pretend hat?"
(Jun. 08) Anna very charmingly calls unicorns, "noonicorns"
(Jun. 08) Anna-(at the top of her lungs in a grocery store) "Schooool's out...for...summer!"
(Jun. 08) Noah- He created a comic book for a class assignment...I didn't read it until after it had been turned in and graded. In one of the frames, he had copied comic strips he had read by including a string of symbols (e.g. #%*!$@). When I asked him what it meant, he said, "Oh that's how you show magic words."
(May 08) Isaac- (while eating beans for dinner with his brothers) "We're gonna be gassy!" (Ah, the joys of living with 3 little boys!)
(May 08) Anna- (coming down early one morning) "I am SO not in a good mood!"
I like to think I'm part Mary Poppins, part Claire Huxtable, part Martha Stewart, but my kids would likely insist on a little more of Miss Hannigan in there. Welcome to my corner of the world where I try to laugh at my little misadventures before I can cry.
